Owner Al Salese’s parents started in the restaurant business in 1969 in the Bronx. Eventually they moved to Long Island where Al grew up. He had his sights set on a different career, but went into the restaurant business andin 1982, opened Junior’s. Al and partner Anthony Rombaldi take great pride in using the best mozzarella, pastas, and San Marzano tomatoes so the food is consistent in quality and taste, yet reasonably priced. Recipes used to make the huge portions of classic Italian dishes come from Al’s mom.

Known for their pizza, we tried the grandma pie with its thin crust and sweet tomato sauce, just like we had growing up in Brooklyn; and the spinach slice was just as tempting. House made focaccia, warm and fresh out of the oven is addictive and so are their garlic knots. Roasted pepper salad was aflavorful combination of tastes and textures; lasagna was topped with a thick and hearty pomodoro sauce; and eggplant parmigiana is delicious layers of fried eggplant, mozzarella, romano cheese, and rich tomato sauce. Who would have known that this unassuming pizzeria would make such great food. Al and Anthony each have their specialty when it comes to desserts. Al bakes the chocolate chip cookies and Anthony makes the brownies. Both are sensational, and try their zepploes filled with cannoli cream...heavenly!

The casual restaurant is country rustic in design with lots of wood. Cozy booths make for comfortable seating and framed prints of vegetable posters and colorful plates decorate the walls. Al and Anthony also specializein traditional old world catering...from their family to yours.
